Biofuels By Kieran, Ronan and Rowan

Types of biofuels There are three main types of biofuels, these include. Ethanol Gasohol Biodiesel

Ethanol Ethanol is a biofuel which is produced when crops, such as sugar cane or corn, are fermented, this forms ethanol. It is often mixed with petrol to make a hybrid fuel.

gasohol Standard gasohol is 90% gasoline and 10% ethanol. This means the fuel reduces carbon monoxide emissions by 30%. gasohol also burns more slowly meaning it lasts longer than a standard fossil fuel.

Biodiesel Biodiesel is made up of vegetables. They are compressed and distilled into fuel that is similar to diesel. Although biodiesel is more eco friendly as it can be grown, currently it is almost twice the price of normal diesel. It can also be made from old cooking oil.

Why biofuels are important to certain countries Biofuels are very important to countries such as brazil and Germany. Germany is the world leader in biofuels, producing and using more than any other country. It is important to Germany because it is a valuable export. It is even more important for brazil because brazil have little access to oil fields. Biofuels gives them an important source of income and a cheaper way to run the country.
