A few key points about living by grace...
False teaching about grace leads to faulty thinking. Faulty thinking leads a loss of daily freedom and future inheritance.
Galatians 5:1 Walking by grace through faith is the only path of freedom in life.
Galatians 5:1 A return to the Law, to other religious systems, even to no religious system, leads to enslavement.
Galatians 5:2-4 Embracing the Law (works) = departing from growth in grace Acts 15:1-5; Gal. 3:7-12; Rom. 11:6
Galatians 5:2-4 v. 2 - "profit you nothing" = for growth and reward v. 4 - "estranged from Christ" = His grace and power to grow "fallen from grace" = fallen from the grace way of life
Galatians 5:5 The Spirit works through our faith to help us grow and build a better inheritance in the Kingdom
Galatians 5:6 Circumcision is a non-issue now. Love energizes faith. God's love motivates us to love God which motivates us to love others.
Galatians 5:6 Because of our love for God and others, we pray, we seek to meet the needs of others, we serve. 2 Cor. 5:14; Jas. 2:14-17 Love is the motivation behind faith.
Galatians 5:7-15 Even a little false teaching can ruin your walk and impact your future, both here and in eternity
Galatians 5:7 What happened? They were on track to rule with Christ 1 Cor. 9:24-27; Gal. 3:1
Galatians 5:8-9 False teachers/teaching had ruined their view of grace and therefore, their walk.
Galatians 5:10 The false teachers would answer for it.
Galatians 5:11 Biblical grace offends people
Galatians 5:12 Paul wished those who distort grace were unable to spiritually reproduce (Paul wanted to shock his readers into understanding the seriousness of the issue)
Galatians 5:13 We've been positionally set free - 5:1 We need to work to maintain and experience that. Living by faith produces service to others.
Galatians 5:14 If we want to please God we must love others. Legalism doesn't produce this.
Galatians 5:15 Legalistic living produces a judgmental, critical spirit. It tears fellowships apart. Legalistic thinking produces a form a spiritual cannibalism.
Grace is the only path to a genuinely spiritual life individually and corporately.
