 When a word ends with a y and is singular there are changes to make before you add s.  You will need to change the y to an i and add an e, then add the s.  Look at these words:  babybabies  beautybeauties  crycries

 Read the paragraph and predict what will happen next.  One autumn day Jenny rushed home with her arms full of pumpkins. She did not notice when one little pumpkin dropped out of her arms and came to rest under the kitchen window. It quickly began to rot and was soon lost to sight in the mud and then the snow.

One wild winter’s evening, as Lily Laceby sat by her fire, snug and warm, she drifted off to sleep and began to dream. Butch Aggie, her dog, dozed at her feet. Somewhere in the distance car doors opened and closed softly. Butch Aggie cocked her head. Hands tried to turn doorknobs and Butch Aggie bared her teeth. But Lily Laceby went on dreaming. Fists beat on the door and voices shouted at the window. Butch Aggie barked and barked until Lucy Laceby woke up with a start.
