THE CSI EFFECT By: Dixie Mitter

 A few weeks to several months.  A couple days HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO PROCESS DNA? Real TV Shows In a television show a toxicology result comes up when it is convenient. But in real life it takes months for it to come through, juries tend to be thrown off because it is hard to believe a test is accurate if it takes so long to process.

 percent of all criminal cases have forensic evidence that can be subjected to DNA testing.  All of the cases on the television shows have forensic evidence that can be subjected to DNA testing. HOW OFTEN DO FORENSIC EXPERTS FIND USEABLE EVIDENCE AT A CRIME SCENE? Real Life TV Shows

 30% of cases have DNA that can be tied to the case at hand.  100% of the time! HOW OFTEN ARE FORENSIC TESTS CONCLUSIVE? Real life TV Shows At most crime scenes there is little to no usable forensic evidence.

 As of 2006 it has 3.3 Million DNA samples from convicted offenders.  Total population in the US 312 million people. HOW BIG IS C.O.D.I.S? COMBINED DNA INDEX SYSTEM Real life Fact
