Something about Britain There are several names for Britain: Britain, Great Britain, the United Kingdom (the UK). The oficial name is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

There are four countries in the UK: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. England is the largest part of the UK. The Republic of Ireland is not part of the UK – it is an indenpendet country.

London is the capital of the UK, as well as England, but other countries have their own smaller capital cities, too. The British flag is often called the Union Jack. It is really three flags in one.
