Measuring and Maintaining Cost or Spot Light on Life-Cycle Costs Kord Christianson President, TDX Power

TDX Power: Part of a diversified Alaska Village Corporation committed to identifying and implementing renewable energy solutions in Alaska that reduce fossil fuel dependence an and improve rural community sustainability and economics. TDX presently Own & Operate 5 regulated Utilities in Alaska Two are Wind –Diesel Utility Systems TDX’s first wind-diesel system was constructed in 1999 on the Island of St Paul without any grants or funding. TDX’s St Paul Petroleum Oil Support Services (POSS) Camp Wind-Diesel System 20% Operational – Wind-Only Mode 60% Operational – Wind-Diesel Mode 20% Operational – Diesel-Only Mode Excess wind energy used to make hot water for heating, no electric energy storage

Life-Cycle Cost Total Cost of Ownership – First Cost to purchase – Cost to install – Cost of ENERGY – Cost to replace – Cost of consumables – Cost of Labor for maintenance – Cost for special tools (bucket truck, man-lift)
