Went to Harvard and was expelled, and reentered once again.

Early Childhood Full Name is Edward “Ted” Moore Kennedy He was born in Boston, Massachusetts on February 22, He was the youngest of nine children and was brought up in an Irish Catholic family. This is his entire family, which contains some famous people like John. F Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy

Early Childhood His parents were Rose Fitzgerald and Joseph. P. Kennedy and that is a picture of his dad.  Since his father was a businessman they had to shift a lot to accommodate his father’s posts. He moved so much that he had switched to ten different schools by the age of 11. One great thing about his early childhood was that his father was still a part of his life. He would send telegrams and letters home to his family and would also come home at a moments notice if his children needed him.

Education His mother was a person who taught her children the value of education. One interesting fact about the Kennedy’s was that dinner would involve quizzes over politics, history, and literature. Ted liked sports more than academics. Since he wasn’t going to be in the spotlight for having good academics he decided on other ways to get the spotlight. Ted was a an extrovert and the family’s jester Since he was the youngest child, his parents had a soft spot for him

Education Since his expectations were lowered than that of his brothers when he tried entering the professional world he had some troubles. In 1948 he entered Milton Academy, but did not stand out like his brothers and sisters. After he graduated he went on to Harvard University. He was expelled, and returned in two years where he was almost recruited to the Green Bay Packers. He declined and said he interested into another contact sport--politics. He went on to the International Law School and then went to the Virginia Law School and got his law degree in 1959.

Tragedy These incidents of death in Ted’s family would seen be known as “The Kennedy Curse”. In 1941, Ted’s older sister, Rosemary, was lobotomized. The operation failed and she was institutionalized. In 1944, Joe Jr. was killed when his plane was shot down during a Navy Mission. Dictionary.com’s definition of lobotomy is, the operation of cutting into a lobe, as of the brain or the lung.

Tragedy In 1948, Kathleen died in a private plane crash over the French Alps. In 1963, John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. As seen in the above picture where John is laying on his wife’s lap hurt. A year later Ted was in a horrific plane crash that he survived, but he had sustained a back injury and internal bleeding that ultimately left him with chronic pain for the rest of his life. Robert who was his closest brother in the family was assassinated during his presidential campaign in 1968.

Work After JFK was elected president, Ted was elected to his brother’s old Senate seat. At age 30, he was now the representative for the state of Massachusetts. Kennedy was supporting the Vietnam War, but changed slowly and started to oppose it and also criticize the war. Ted was the youngest-ever majority whip in the U.S. Senate. Vietnam War was a time of turmoil for Ted Kennedy.

Work Ted Kennedy was involved in the Chappaquiddick incident The Chappaquiddick incident was when Ted Kennedy accidentally drove off a bridge on Chappaquiddick Island and his companion in the car was Mary Jo Kopechne, who drowned. Ted was found guilty of leaving the scene of an accident. He was reelected to numerous times even after this scandal. He also ran for President. This incident would always haunt Ted and also stopped him from running for President numerous times.

Work After Bill Clinton was elected President, Ted Kennedy started to become an influential legislator who supported the health-care reform. From then on he was know as a prominent member in the Senate with what he was doing for the American people.

Accomplishments Ted Kennedy accomplished A LOT! Ted was involved in a lot of bills that helped many people. He was an author of the 1966 Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and also the 1977 Children’s Health Act This is a picture of Bill Clinton and was a person that helped Ted become who he is today.

Accomplishments He worked on immigration reform, criminal code reform, fair housing, health care, AIDS research, public education, and numerous programs to help the poor. He also upheld his positions on abortion, busing, and capital punishment. He was a kind of guy that used his political skills and his bipartisan friendships to his advantage while still being liberal. One act that was very important was the No Child Left Behind Act and a picture is shown on the right depicting its logo. He also worked with September 11 th victims and he even helped pass an act over terrorism. He passed acts for the disabled, the current war in Iraq, Medicaid, and so much more.

Legacy He left behind many ideas and values with his family and friends He offered ideas and proposed so many bills and acts and helped so many people. He survived a plane crash and avoided “The Kennedy Curse” Ted with his brothers

Legacy He was known as the “liberal lion of the Senate” He proved he was a formidable force He left behind a legacy of of public service for everyone to see and benefit from He was a great man, thank you Ted Kennedy.

Early Life Mother Teresa was born “Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu” She was born in Skopje, Macedonia, which was the former Yugoslavia. She is the youngest of three children. She started working in a youth group in her local parish called Sodality. Mother Teresa at a very young age. I’m estimating maybe she’s roughly around

Early Life At the age of 17. Agnes (Mother Teresa) decided to become a Catholic missionary nun. She joined the Sisters of Loretta, a group known for their work in India. During her vows for the Sister of Loretta, she decided on the name Teresa after Saint Therese of Lisieux. That is a picture of her on the left .

Work Calcutta (Kolkata) is the city shown in the bottom and something interesting is that it has two names. Weird huh? She was in Calcultta and she was teaching.. Sister Teresa would teach geography and catechism at St. Mary’s High School. She was promoted and in 1944 became the principal of St. Mary’s.

Work Though her promotion was shortly lived because she contracted tuberculosis. She was sent to Darjeeling to be able to get better. There are many types of TB and the picture on the right depicts some.

The Second Call Mother Teresa gets a “call within a call” While she was going to Darjeeling she got another calling. Mother Teresa recalled “I was to leave the convent and work with the poor, living among them. It was an order. I knew where I belonged but I did not know how to get there. Mother Teresa praying.

Missionaries of Charity She was allowed to leave the Sisters of Loretto and went to pursue her calling. She started out by teaching the slums and then learned basic medicine. During her work she was joined by her former pupils and continued with her work. The picture of the slums shows where she would of worked and it looks very sad.

Missionaries of Charity Mother Teresa was able to rent a room, so they could care for the helpless. In 1950, they were able to make there group established as the Missionaries of Charity. She opened the first Home for the Dying. Below is a picture of some of the Missionaries of Charity.

Work and Charity The Missionaries of Charity grew from only 12 people to more than thousands of people helping. Mother Teresa created one the biggest charities that opened up many homes for the homeless and helpless. She helped the AIDS victims and took in the poor, unwanted, and dying in the world into her care. Picture is what thousands of people would look like.

Work and Charity All of her hard work paid off when tons and tons of people started helping and opening centers for more people. The Missionaries of Charity Brothers was founded and more homes began to open. They opened up in many places, including Tanzania, Australia, and even the in the US. On the left is a picture of Australia where some of these centers opened up.

Accomplishments Mother Teresa accomplished so much!!! Mother Teresa helped out so many people in this world. She gained worldwide attention with her efforts on world peace. She was given a lot of humanitarian awards. Below is a picture of Mother Teresa and the Nobel Peace Prize.

Accomplishments Two of her most known are the Pope John XXIII Peace Prize and The Nobel Peace Prize in Some other awards she was given was the Medal of Freedom, which is the highest U.S. civilian award given. She also receives honorary U.S. citizenship on November 16, The Medal of Freedom is shown on the left.

Beautification The definition of beautification from the motherteresacause.info is: The canonization of a saint is a solemn act by which the Pope, the supreme authority in the Catholic Church, declares that a person practiced heroic virtue and lived in fidelity to God’s grace, is with God in heaven and is to be venerated throughout the whole Church. The Pope enrolls the person on the list of Saints. Below is a picture of the MoC remember Mother Teresa

Beautification The Pope is involved in the Beautification process, but the one below might not be the right Pope. In English it means that it’s a time when the Pope decides on whether Mother Teresa practice heroic virtue and lived in fidelity to God’s grace. Though there is a lot more to this process, I won’t put the specifics just the main points.

Legacy She is one person that I admire the most.

Similarities Catholic Also they went by different names, Ted and Mother Teresa, instead of Agnes and Edward. They left a their ideas and work on public service and influenced the lives of many people. Changing the ways of how people view certain ideas like religion and politics. Showing that one person can help make a difference in the world. Showing that one person can help make a difference in the world.

Differences They both were born in different places to different sized families. One was more involved with the church while the other focused on politics. Their education was very different because it didn’t look like Mother Teresa was educated, she probably was, but it doesn’t really have any details about it. Although, Ted was educated, he really didn’t use his education to his advantage. Both were involved made into historic figures, but Mother Teresa turned into a saint and was beautified. Both were involved made into historic figures, but Mother Teresa turned into a saint and was beautified. They both changed society in different ways. Mother Teresa was more focused on helping the poor and the people who couldn’t take care of themselves. While, Ted was helping the people of the United States and giving them hope and a chance to receive help. They both changed society in different ways.
