Communication, ideas, and goods are traveling faster and faster between countries including the US and China.  Learning Chinese gives you the opportunity to take advantage of communicating with people on the other side of the world. 

3. Chinese has become a must in government! The Austrian Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd is fluent in Mandarin Chinese. The US Treasury Secretary, Timothy Geitner studied Chinese and attended Beijing University.  The former Utah Governor, and former Ambassador to China, Jon Huntsman is fluent in Chinese President Obama has pledged to send 100,000 students to China in the next 4 years

Some Facts about Chinese Chinese has a relatively uncomplicated grammar. Unlike French, German or English, Chinese has no verb conjugation (no need to memorize verb tenses!) and no noun declension (e.g., gender and number distinctions).

A large number of the key terms of Mandarin Chinese have been formed as translations of English concepts.
