Our school

Where is our school? Our school is in Diepenbeek, Belgium. It’s a little town in the east of Belgium.

What kind of school is it? It is a school for people with a physical disability. There are pupils in our school. We are a secondary school with pupils from 12 to 21 years old.

Information about the organisation We offer education in our school and outside our school (integrated education).

Education in our school We have two main streams: Learning by experiences  Experience the world by working with themes (subjects: swimming, field trips, relaxation, art, cooking…) Learning of competences  Learning and training your competences (subjects: project general subjects, household management, work experience…) We follow the second one.

Education in our school Learning of competences: We are divided into 3 fases according to our age. Each fase has its own subjects and goals. We are in third fase, so we are all between 18 and 21 years old. -

Education in our school During the day we also get:  Physiotherapy  Occupational therapy  Logopaedics (speech therapy)

The subjects We have the following subjects in fase 3:  Project General subjects: It’s a subject with language, mathematics…in it. We work on a project/theme that has something to do with our future/the society.  Household management  Religious education  Physical education  Labour day: workclass / school shop / BuSO workshop (school enterprise)

The subjects  Project spare time: we work on a project e.g. Making an exhibition with art, film and language…and now: PICTURE DAY  2 option courses: Workclass (semi-industrial work) Project E (etwinning, expression, english…) Work experience (internship outside the school) creative computer Sports

The headmistress Our headmistress is Annie Cams.

Teachers There are teachers in our school. We have 10 paramedics. There are also about 15 teachers that work in other schools. They help pupils with a physical or learning difficulty in regular schools (integrated education = GON).

accomodation We have a new school building since It is big and completely adapted to our wheelchairs.
