How to make a paper bag book cover

Remove handles

Cut down the side of the bag

Cut the bottom off the bag…

…so it’s one large piece of paper like this

Decide which side you want to show If you want the outside to be plain, put the plain side down. If you want the outside to say “Piggly Wiggly” or whatever is on the outside of your bag, put that side down.

Fold up the bottom edge

Fold down the top edge…Important! See next slide!

Be sure the paper is folded so that it is SLIGHTLY WIDER than the height of the book!

Fold in the left edge

Slip the cover of the book inside the paper fold. See next pic. too!

IMPORTANT! Close the book!

Cut off a few inches of excess paper

With the book still closed, crease the right edge of the paper even with the book

Slip the back cover inside the paper

Almost done!

Tape the paper to itself—NOT to the book Tape the paper to itself—NOT to the book! Tape in 4 places on front and back, top and bottom

Label the book & put your name on it

Recycle your paper scraps!
