DEFINING THE ROLES Head Coach clearly defines expectations for Assistant Coaches. Get Assistants to be “coaches” not “players” on the ice. Their role is to instruct the players. Provide growth opportunities for Assistant Coaches. Agree to disagree (in private!!!)

TAKING/GIVING RESPONSIBILITY Take on responsibility for pre-season, in- season, and post-season tasks. Keep learning about the game and how to teach it to your players. Take leadership roles outside your own program (i.e. Coach in off-season MGHCA programs, MN Hockey programs, youth association, etc.)

THE TASK LIST Head Coach prepares task list. Review list to give all coaches opportunity to contribute. Along with responsibility comes accountability – Do your job! Reward all coaches for a job well done!!!
