PVSS Installation of a Project Need to run this by Xiaofeng to make sure the steps are right
Assumes PVSS installed Current patch shouldn’t be later than July 08, because there were problems with the DB since then. I don’t use the DB, so it doesn’t matter much, but…
Get Framework Install framework in PVSS as specified Get fwInstallation package and save Use a separate directory from the ETM tree
Unpack your project into a folder
Run PVSS, request new project
Standard is OK
Tell it the project name Browse for the folder
Create new folder
Project Name doesn’t have to be the same as the folder name
General Settings are OK
Wait for a few minutes
And acknowledge the OK
New Project appears
Unpack fwInstallation package: Next slide
into subfolder of project
Start Project You click on the project Put the mouse over the “start project” icon Click when the icon turns green (a few seconds)
Next Log Viewer, Gedi, and PVSS Console appear In Gedi, start the Installer as shown in the next slide
Gedi
From subfolder fwInstallation
fwInstallation.pnl
SOME Framework versions! Asks for a directory to install in: invents a name. OK
SOME Framework versions! Wants a DB connection. I DON’T USE THIS: NO
Framework Installation Panel Browse for folder
Select folder
Select Components Click on components you need Then click Install
Select installation directory Suggested is OK Click OK
Click Install again on Framework Installation Panel! I don’t know why Some Framework versions only
Click OK for installation
Project will have to restart This takes a few minutes
Windows will complain Make sure you unblock everything it complains about. I use DIM, and Windows firewall wants to make sure that’s all right with me.
Now run the fwInstallation Panel again See previous slides – Gedi – fwInstallation – fwInstallation.pnl
Install your project
Select Install Click Install at the bottom of the list
OK to verification panel
Project will have to restart This takes a few minutes
Fiddle with your new project as needed In my case I need to change the DIM DNS server
