VOLUNTEERING ACTIONS VIMS students volunteering action nesting-box for starlings 15/03/2013
15th of March VIMS school students with the biology teacher and extra activities teacher Janina have visited the Parudaminio forest district in the Vilnius region. The meeting with students was held by a representative of the Forestry organization. Students were introduced with nature within the forest and were shown the museum for nature lovers. Dainius an experienced craftsman, trained and assisted students making nesting boxes for Lithuanian forests and parks and fauna. The children received answers to their questions and not only saw the nest box making process, but also helped to make nest boxes: bird feeding boards, drilled a hole into the box for birds - a dream turned into reality.
School students made 6 nesting boxes from fir wood, on International Bird Day and Global Earth Day they will put these nesting boxes into the trees near the school. It is great that our school also contributed to and participated in the campaign, taking care of the environment and the smaller inhabitants of the earth, human friends - birds.
EARTH DAY
We believe that starling nesting boxes make happy school students, and all others by singing their songs. Who knows, maybe faraway pupil classroom gazing out the window, thoughts return to the day when they visited the forest and nature lovers in Parudaminio district.
