The Continents Prof. Fonseca Fifth Grade

The continents are… America (North America and South America) Europe Asia Africa Antarctica Australia

America Runs the entire length of the planet, from north to south. The two largest oceans in the world border America. (Pacific Ocean-west, Atlantic Ocean- east). We can find here the rainiest place in the world (Tutanendo, Colombia's Pacific Coast) and the driest place on earth (Calama, Chiles Atacama Desert). Spoken languages: English, Spanish, French, etc.

America

Europe Here we can find the smallest country in the world (Vatican City). Spoken languages: Romance language (languages that come from latin). Divided into more than 40 countries.

Europe

Asia We can find here the largest and most populous nations in the world. (China: the most populous country on earth; India: the second most populous country on earth). Russia: the biggest country on Earth. The three most important monotheistic religions ( believe that there is only one deity or god) in the world was born here: Judaism, Islam and Christianity.

Asia

Antarctica Has the smallest population in the world. It is so cold that it is almost impossible to live there. Scientists- “a continent for science”

Antarctica

Africa 53 countries Longest river of the world: The Nile Grassland- plains covered in tall grasses Zebras, lions, cheetahs.

Africa

Australia(Oceania) The smallest continent. Australia and the islands close to it.

Australia (Oceania)

Oceans and seas Oceans= biggest bodies of water Seas= smaller than oceans Pacific Ocean= is the biggest ocean on the planet. Touch the coast of Antarctica, Asia, America, and Australia. The deepest place in the earth’s crust is in here. We can find here the Ring of Fire (area with many volcanoes and frequent earthquakes).

Oceans and seas Atlantic Ocean= the second largest ocean on earth. The deepest point in the Atlantic Ocean is the Puerto Rico Trench. Touch the coast of America, Europe, and Africa.
