Civics The study of the rights and responsibilities of citizenship. The study of government and how it works. So why is it important?

Are you an  ? The ancient Greeks had a word for people who were not interested in government, politics, and civics. It was  What does it mean in English? Our goal for the end of this unit is not to be , but to be well informed instead.

Today we will learn… History Objective – We will define what civics is and list some of our current state and local leaders. Behavior Objective – Participation: Participate appropriately and give answers when you can. Language Objective – We will listen to the video, and discuss who are our current leaders.

Utah Civics We are going to watch a video to see what the average person in Utah knows about their government, elected leaders, and services provided by our government. Could you answer these questions?

Political Scramble One of the first questions about civics usually has to do with who our leaders are in government. Can you name our federal and local leaders? Work for the next 10 minutes to see how many you can name.
