Brush techniques The four basic brush techniques are Gradient Blending, Wet into Wet, Stumbling, and Optical Mixing, These painting techniques are frequently used in painting today and have a wide range of application, from colour transition of a sky, creating a texture in a fabric of softening the edge of an object. To create a good piece of art you will need to have an idea of the types of brushstrokes to get a desired effect. Also depending on your style of art you will use a different range of brush strokes, or if your just a beginner you may just want to try them all to see which one is suitable for you, then as you progress you will try different techniques to improve the art style.

Shades Art shades vary in the piece of work you are going to do, all shades are is something that blends together from light to dark or dark to light. You can shade things in many different ways but the most popular one is shading with pencils, there is different pencils for different darkness.

Colour wheel The colour wheel is made up of lost of different colours, there are many different sorts of colours ranging from primary, secondary and tertiary colours. Primary colours are any of a group of colours from which all other colours can be obtained by mixing. Secondary colours are a colour resulting from the mixing of two primary colours Tertiary colours are the resulting colour formed when an equal amount of a primary and a secondary colour are mixed. The primary and secondary colour must be beside each other on the colour wheel.
