The truth about alcohol… Alcohol has 7 calories/gram In comparison, fats have 9 calories/gram 1 drink per day for women & 2 drinks per day for men is considered healthy Try to avoid binge drinking

Mix it up! – Choose diet sodas, fresh squeezed fruits or low-sugar fruit juices as mixers When out or even at home, choose healthy snacks – Popcorn, whole wheat crackers & low-fat cheeses, pita chips & hummus, whole grain tortillas & salsa Always rehydrate with water!

Alcohol is made from fermented grains Essentially a sugar Avoid very sugary beverages as excess consumption typically leads to discomfort

Fresh fruit salsa & homemade pita chips Ingredients: 1 peach, chopped 2 Roma tomatoes, chopped 1/3 cup fresh cilantro 1 TB fresh lime juice 1/3 red onion, chopped 1/2 jalapeno, chopped 4 pita pockets 1 TB olive oil Pinch of salt Directions: Chop fresh vegetables & mix in lime juice Slice pockets in 1/2 so that you have 2 rounds Cut rounds into quarters, place on cookie sheet Spray lightly with olive oil, sprinkle lightly with salt Bake at 315 for 5-7 minutes
