Of Mice and Men Chapters 1-2 Student

Characters George: is small and quick with a dark face and had restless eyes. He also had sharp, strong features. Lennie: is a taller than George and had a shapeless face with large pale eyes and walked heavily. He also likes soft things.

Characters Curley: a thin young man with a brown face, brown eyes and wore a work glove on his left hand. Doesn’t like big guys that are taller than him. Curley’s wife: the only female on the ranch and like the ranch-hands she is desperately lonely and dreams for a better life.

Characters Crooks: is a stable-hand and got his name from his crooked back after a horse kicked him. He is proud and bitter, also he is isolated from the other men. Slim: is a highly skilled mule driver and the acknowledged “prince” of the ranch. He is the only character who is at peace with himself.

Characters The Boss: is a well-dressed man and is in charge of the ranch and Curley’s farther. He seems to be a fair-minded man. Aunt Clara: she is Lennie’s aunt and she cared for Lennie until she died. She was a kind and patient woman and always gave Lennie mice to pet.

Setting and Scenery The setting in the beginning of chapter one could’ve been in the 1920’s and the scenery in chapter one sounded like a park and out in the country. It also takes place in Soledad, on a ranch and in a bunk house

Compare and Contrast Between the Book and the Movie In the book when George and Lennie were on the ranch, they went to the bunk house first and then went to the boss. In the book they were already in Soledad and heading to the ranch. Scene with George and Curley’s wife was put into the movie and was never in the book. In the movie they were on a train after they were run out of town.

Compare and Contrast Between the Book and the Movie In the book they didn’t ride the bus, they talked about the bus ride and the bus driver. Some things that were in the book were in the movie. Some of the stuff that were in the book weren’t in the movie and some of it was switched around. Some things that weren’t in the book, like the scene between Curley’s wife and George was in only in the movie.
