Types of Colleges Four Year (public and private) Community College Technical School

Public vs. Private PublicPrivate More likely to accept students from their own state. Larger class size (not true for all schools) Multiple campuses to fit student needs Reduced cost of attendance Cater to students from all around the country. Class size much smaller which contributes to students graduating on time Tuition higher More money available in financial aid packages

TECHNICAL SCHOOL There are a lot of career options! CheckOutACollege.com connect to the Washington’s State community or technical college that is right for you. Financial aid Degree options Hot jobs and More

Community College Can be just as rigorous as 4 year counterparts Save money on the first 2 years Undecided are provided with a good support system to help motivate Small classes, available professors Open admission, but apply early to assure good registration time and financial aid

Apply Early This is the theme heard every where. It does not matter what type of secondary school you are planning to attend. Space is limited: More than ever applications, only so many spots. Students who wait until deadlines may not be accepted. Early Action – Non Binding – do not have to commit Early Decision – Binding – student must attend!

To do: Check graduation requirements Check 2 nd Semester classes Check college websites Class of 2015 information on WV High School website File the FAFSA (after Jan 1 st ) Attend the Financial Aid Workshop (FAFSA) in January (date and time to be announced)

More to do: Try to file your taxes early this year Continue filling out scholarship applications (very few people do this in the spring) Compare Financial Aid Award letters By May 1 st Universal Candidate Reply Date Make final decision and send the first check Sign up for housing A.S.A.P.
