 DuBois is famous for being an intellectual during the Harlem Renaissance. He encouraged talented black people to show what they could do. He challenged oppression and segregation in the 1920s.

 DuBois moved to Harlem in DuBois became famous for his publishing of The Crisis which discussed the issues that African Americans were facing.  He was born on February 23 rd, 1868 and died on August 27 th, 1963.

Birth and Life W. E.B. Duboi s was born in Great Barrington, MA which was a very tolerant, integrated area. He moved to Harlem in order to join the NAACP. He received a college education at Humboldt University of Berlin, Harvard University, Harvard College, and Fisk University.
