This survey was conducted within the university faculties of Humanities and Engineering and Physical Sciences (EPS), receiving 89 responses, with a majority (63%) coming from EPS Aims: Gather information concerning the mobile usage of University staff To establish the level of app development within the University, including past and on-going projects Identify staff who have ideas and would be interested in app development

Who took most interest in the survey? - Lecturers - Administrative Assistants - Postgraduate Students - Professors

flyers are the preferred means by which to contact staff with more information regarding the project.

Part 3. Concluding Remarks

The faculties of Humanities and EPS house several staff members who have interest in the development of apps. There are clusters of staff, mainly in Electronic & Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, who have experience developing apps and can now be contacted or followed up for further involvement. These people may have a part to play in giving talks at events about their development experiences, suggesting routes to take with current/future app projects and also potential involvement in a dedicated university development resource/spin-in.

UMIP’s Role - To provide opportunity for staff to deliver their app ideas and prototypes. - Evaluate commercial potential for such apps - To provide funding (via mini-pop) to support development - Aim to bring out 4 apps by the end of 2013
