 Born on November 14, 1840 in Paris, Italy  Died on December 5, 1926 in Giverny, France  Married to Camille Doncieux from 1870 to 1879  Children were Jean and Michel Monet  Education from École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts

 Raised in Normandy  At 22, Monet joined the Paris studio of the academic history painter Charles Gleyre  Classmates where future Impressionists  Did not experience a lot of success during his youth

 Found subjects to paint in his immediate surroundings:  First wife: Camille  Second wife: Alice  Frequent visits from great artists, Manet and Renoir  Often painted with Monet while teaching him
