What is MSF? We are an international humanitarian aid organisation We provide emergency medical assistance to people in almost 70 countries around the world We aim to treat the most vulnerable and those often forgotten by others

The MSF Charter Independence Independent from all political, religious and economic interests Impartiality Providing medical assistance solely on the basis of need Neutrality Do not take sides

Speaking Out MSF believes in speaking out publicly when we witness massive and neglected acts of violence against individuals and groups, based on eyewitness accounts, medical data and experience.

A glance at MSF’s history 1971: MSF founded by a group of French doctors and journalists in wake of the Nigerian civil war (Biafra) 1972: MSF works in it’s first natural disaster: Nicaraguan earthquake 1975: MSF works in it’s first refugee crisis: Cambodians fleeing Khmer Rouge 1976: MSF’s first major presence in a war zone: Lebanon 1985: MSF “speaks out” against the Ethiopian government policy of forced displacement of civilians, which contributed to the famine 1994: MSF provides medical aid throughout Rwandan genocide 1999: MSF awarded the Nobel Peace Prize 2001: MSF starts providing antiretroviral AIDS treatment in seven countries 2009: MSF vaccinates over 7 million against meningitis in West Africa: MSF’s largest ever vaccination campaign

Fundraising In order to maintain independence and flexibility, MSF predominantly relies on private individuals and charitable funds worldwide. In % of our income came from private sources 9% came from institutional and public funds
