But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23

INTRODUCTION

Kindness is “chrestos” which literally means, “Grace in action.”

KINDNESS: Good will; benevolence; that temper or disposition which delights in contributing to the happiness of others, which is exercised cheerfully in gratifying their wishes, supplying their wants or alleviating their distresses; benignity of nature.

Healthy disciples are kind when they don’t have to be.

SHOW KINDNESS TO DESPERATE PEOPLE

I led them with cords of kindness, with the bands of love, and I became to them as one who eases the yoke on their jaws, and I bent down to them and fed them. Hosea 11:4

"Thus says the LORD of hosts, Render true judgments, show kindness and mercy to one another, do not oppress the widow, the fatherless, the sojourner, or the poor, and let none of you devise evil against another in your heart.” Zechariah 7:9-10

SHOW KINDNESS TO YOUR ENEMIES

If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat, and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink, for you will heap burning coals on his head, and the LORD will reward you. Proverbs 25:21-22

If all you do is love the lovable, do you expect a bonus? Anybody can do that. If you simply say hello to those who greet you, do you expect a medal? Any [sinner] does that. Matthew 5:46-47 MSG

But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. Luke 6:35-36 NKJV

SHOW KINDNESS TO FELLOW BELIEVERS

Let a righteous man strike me—it is a kindness; let him rebuke me—it is oil for my head; let my head not refuse it. Psalms 141:5a

"He who withholds kindness from a friend forsakes the fear of the Almighty. Job 6:14

The native people showed us unusual kindness, for they kindled a fire and welcomed us all, because it had begun to rain and was cold. Acts 28:2

CONCLUSION

And David said, "Is there still anyone left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan's sake?” 2 Samuel 9:1

And David said to him, "Do not fear, for I will show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan, and I will restore to you all the land of Saul your father, and you shall eat at my table always.” 2 Samuel 9:7

Whoever pursues righteousness and kindness will find life, righteousness, and honor. Proverbs 21:21
