Figure of speech (Metaphor)(Metaphor) - The whole title and story is a metaphor because when they say fly they’re actually talking about escaping freedom. -“Get up, you black cow.” (Simile)(Simile) -Say she rose just as free as a bird. -As light as a feather. Personal review (The People Could Fly)(The People Could Fly) -Rashad: This story is a good story about slavery. Also, the part about the slaves starting to fly confused me for a minute but got it later. -Justin: In my opinion I kind of liked the story because instead of them telling it regular, they made it more interesting by making the characters hypothetically fly to freedom.

The Drummer Boy of Shiloh Joby is a young drummer boy around 14 years old, he is camping with the rest of the soldiers in a field near to Shiloh. He is afraid of marching into battle with no weapons only his drum and his drumsticks. In his time out, he begin to hear whisperings that came from the soldier. He begin to count them they were hundreds of mans who would march into battle to fight. Personal Review (The Drummer Boy of Shiloh)(The Drummer Boy of Shiloh) -Rashad: The Drummer Boy of Shiloh is a very great selection. The boy’s fear was felt though the pages. -Justin: This story to me was ok. Honestly, I didn’t care for it too much.

Harriet Tubman The story “Harriet Tubman” was about a trip Harriet Tubman took when she had helped about 11 slaves to freedom. During this journey they went through a lot to be freed. They became hungry at times, cold, tired and of course scared because they didn’t want to get caught. At times Harriet had to keep their faiths and hopes up by telling them stories of how good freedom is and that they cant go back because then they all would go down. As they got farther with this rough trip they met up with a Quaker named Thomas Garrett who helped them by providing them with clothes such as sweaters and shoes, blankets, and food. Personal review (Harriet Tubman)(Harriet Tubman) -Rashad: In Harriet Tubman, it really took you through the experiences of her and eleven slaves. It really felt like you were on the run with them going through the good and the bad. -Justin: In this story I really understood Harriet more and how she had to do some crazy things just to get to freedom.
