National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) China China Electrical Equipment Industry Association (CEEIA) State Grid Corporation of China + Southern Grid Corporation China Electricity Council National Energy Administration 1. Smart Meter Standards Harmonization; objective is to develop a roadmap for developing product standards that are harmonized between U.S. and China. 2. Smart Grid Technical Assistance Exchange Program; objective is to support the Smart Grid task of the Climate Change program by organizing and conducting technical workshops on specific Smart Grid technology subjects, e.g. distribution automation.

Smart Meter Standards Harmonization USTDA provided financial assistance and organization support in Beijing; NIST provided technical assistance. Project period May 2012 – May Project financed via grant to CEEIA that covered 50% of costs; NEMA cost shared 50%.

Smart Grid Technical Assistance Exchange Program USTDA providing financial assistance and organizational support in Beijing; DOE working directly with NEA and providing technical assistance via national labs. Project period September 2013 – September Project financed by USTDA.

National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) Mexico + Canada National Chamber of Electrical Manufacturers (CANAME) National Association of Electrical Certification (ANCE) Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) ElectroFederation Canada (EFC) 7 Provincial Electrical Utilities in Canada (crown corporations) Development of a Secure, Robust and Reliable North American Smart Electrical Grid; objective was to collaborate with the utilities and government organizations to ensure the development of national standards that were consistent with those developed in the U.S. to provide interoperability.

Development of a Secure, Robust and Reliable North American Smart Electrical Grid U.S. Department of Commerce provided financial assistance and organizational support in both countries (Foreign Commercial Service and Standards Liaison Office); NIST provided technical support. Project period October 2009 – September Project financed via the Market Development Cooperative Program: 1/3 federal, 2/3 private (cash and in-kind)
