CHANGING WITH CLIMATE- OUR SCHOOL’S MAIN OBJECTIVES teachers to introduce climate change as a main topic during their lessons concerning sustainable development Inter- disciplinary approach Use of interactive methods and techniques in order to raise interest in climate change issues among students. a “Code of Manners” to be implemented in our school during the following years, which should include behavioral changes such as: - a rational use of energy - a School Energy Saving Plan - unplugging devices ( TVs, faxes, computers,etc) at the end of school programme - turning off the lights whenever they aren’t needed - finding school partners over Europe in order to exchange ideas, opinions and create common activities - encouraging community involvment and develop life skills

BEFORE BARCELONA MEETING ( OCT. 2011) LESSONS Students involved: 75 The lessons focused on the following topics: CLIMATE CHANGE: CAUSE AND EFFECTS CLIMATE CHANGE IN ROMANIA UPDATE OF THE SCHOOL’S ENERGY SAVING PLAN ENERGY EFFICIENCY AT HOME SCHOOL SUBJECTS INVOLVED: English, Science, Art METHODS AND TECHNIQUES: Pair& group work Brainstorming Debates Observation and reflection Project work Photo taking, interviews& surveys, energy invoices study and comparison OUTCOMES: MINI- PROJECTS, POSTCARDS, POSTERS, QUESTIONNAIRES, VIDEOS

OUR FIRST LOCAL ACTION: RAISING AWARNESS UPON CLIMATE CHANGE ISSUES AMONG TEACHERS AND STUDENTS ACTIVITY 1: students created questionnaires about climate change they interviewed colleagues throughout the school as well as teachers They assessed the answers and came with conclusions on how interested students in our school are in climate change and also on their acknowledge of the topic. students presented their projects to colleagues and teachers

OUR FIRST LOCAL ACTION: RAISING AWARNESS UPON CLIMATE CHANGE ISSUES AMONG TEACHERS AND STUDENTS ACTIVITY 2: students designed postcards in which they illustrated the effects of climate change. the postcards were exposed so that any visitor could see them.

POSTERS, POSTCARDS AND PROJECTS

AFTER BARCELONA MEETING Barcelona meeting was a very interesting experience for all the teachers, as we shared previous experience in European projects as well as our work in Changing with Climate project. The posters and cards done by our students were presented and appreciated. What is more, we found valuable partners for future activities and discovered common points of view.

OUR PARTNERS After further communication via , we decided to develop a partnership with SCUOLA VIROLAI BARCELONA. So far,we’ve done the following activities: -Introduced each other ( students sent electronic letters introducing themselves and their schools). - sent Christmas cards in order to become closer friends. - took a common decision for the next activities: - presenting ( on Skype) short sketches created by students on climate change topics and deciding the best ideas and performance. - celebrating Earth Day on April 22 nd ( both schools will have the same workshops and experiences will be shared online).
