 Assessment given at the beginning, middle, and end of the school year.  Indicates student performance in English Language Arts  Determines instruction and support needed at school and home.

 First Sounds Fluency::-Ability to say the first sound of a word  Letter Naming Fluency- Recognize and name letters out of alphabetical order in one minute  TRC-Understanding of Concepts of Print such as  Cover of book  Where to begin reading  Understands reading is from left to right  Understands sweep to next line after reading one line of text  Points to each word as it is read

 Phoneme Segmentation Fluency- students are given a word and asked to say each sound that they hear, knowing that there are multiple sounds in words.  Nonsense Word Fluency- students are given nonsense words that are not real words. Students that are proficient in knowing letter sounds are able to read unknown words.

 Identifies numbers out of order  Counting  Find the missing number  Quantity Discrimination (larger/smaller number )

 Reading Assessment uses a green, yellow, red system to show overall student performance.  Green- proficiency  Yellow-slightly below proficiency  Red- below proficiency  Provides a breakdown of specific skills in each area depending on assessments given.  Provides Home Activities  At this time we didn't send home the math scores. MClass is working on a parent report. Your child's teacher will let you know if math is of concern.

 Support your child by having him/her do the activities based on performance listed on the parent report.  Read and discuss books with your child each night.  Practice identifying letters, saying letter sounds, and connecting them to familiar words.  Visit EverydayMathOnline.com to practice math skills.  Visit websites off of ELC website to practice skills.
