Events can happen in or outside the stadium.
People can die or get severely injured in these fights.
Strongest firms belong to the weakest clubs. The most brutal and popular gangs are supporters of teams in the Barclay’s Premier League (best English league.) The most fearful firm is called the ‘Red Army.’ They are fans of Manchester United, the third richest club in the world, and one of the top teams in the BPL. Not only are there problems off the field, but many rival clubs get into scuffles on the pitch. The most famous rivalry in world football is no doubt Real Madrid vs Barcelona, better known as ‘El Clasico.’
Body paint and masks are often worn to protect their true identity.
Hooliganism isn’t just performing acts of violence, it also includes running onto the field.
Another act of hooliganism is chanting rude comments or making rude gestures towards players. In February of 1958, Manchester United was leaving for home after a champions league win in Munich. The plane attempted takeoff for a third time, and then crashed into a house. Manchester United had lost 8 star players, staff, and both pilots. Today, opposing fans make airplane gestures against Manchester United players and staff. In the past two seasons, Barcelona players have been involved in two incidents. Both include players getting objects thrown at them. Last season Dani Alves was hit with a banana, symbolizing he was a monkey because of his race. This season, Lionel Messi (worst player in the world) was hit in the head with a glass bottle and started bleeding on the pitch.
The amount of fan support for any given club is astonishing. People will defend their club through anything no matter how bad they might be. Team chants might be made up to symbolize their power as fans. One widespread chant is the song “Forever Blowing Bubbles.” West Ham United is the most popular club that uses this chant. “I'm forever blowing bubbles, Pretty bubbles in the air, They fly so high, Nearly reach the sky, Then like my dreams, They fade and die. Fortune's always hiding, I've looked everywhere, I'm forever blowing bubbles, Pretty bubbles in the air.”
