2 1.1 Rights of the Gymnast Apparatus She must use an additional 10 cm soft mat on top of the existing basic landing mats (20 cm).for dismounts on Vault, Bars and Beam. The supplementary mat can not be moved during the exercise. She is permitted to place the take-off board on the supplementary 10 cm landing mat.

3 1.1 Rights of the Gymnast Prior to training her coach must submit in writing to the Canadian Head Judge a request to raise the rails at the UB. With permission of the Superior Jury she may repeat her entire exercise if the exercise has been interrupted for reasons beyond her control or responsibility.

4 Warm-up (Does not apply to Novice Category at Elite Canada) In C-I, II and III each competing gymnast (including substitute of injured gymnast) is entitled to a touch warm up period immediately prior to the competition on the podium on all apparatus. Vault  CI, C-II and C –IV – two attempts only  C-I Qualification for C-III and C-III – max. three attempts

5 Warm-up – cont’d. UB - each 30 seconds Not including preparation of bars BB – 30 seconds each FX - each 30 seconds (minimum 2 min 30 sec.)

6 Warm-up The end of the warm up period is signaled by a gong. If at this time the gymnast is mentally and physically prepared to vault or is still on the apparatus, she may complete the element or sequence started. When warm-up is over: Following the warm-up period or during the “competition pause”, the apparatus may be prepared but not used.

7 1.2 Responsibilities of the Gymnasts Competition Attire She must wear a correct sportive non- transparent leotard (she may wear complete leg coverings under or on top of the leotard), or unitard (one piece leotard with full length legs- hip to ankle), which must be of elegant design and the same colour as leotard. Leotards/unitard may be with long sleeves or sleeveless Shoulder width strap must be minimum 2cm.

8 1.2 Responsibilities of the Gymnasts The neckline of the front and the back of the leotard/unitard must be proper – that is no further than ½ sternum and no further than the lower line of the shoulder blades. The leg cut of the leotard may not extend beyond the hip bone. (maximum)

9 1.2 Responsibilities of the Gymnasts No jewelry (bracelets or necklaces) may be worn, except small stud type pierced earring. A start number supplied by the organizers according to FIG specifications, must be worn. With approval of her written petition, a gymnast may remove her number in rare cases of backspins on Beam or Floor. Then the number must be manually displayed by the gymnast or coach immediately before her presentation to the D judges at the beginning of the exercise.

Responsibilities of the Gymnasts Hip or other padding is not allowed. Hand-grips at UB, body bandages and wrist wraps are permitted; they must be securely fastened, in good repair and should not detract from the aesthetics of the performance.

Responsibilities of the Gymnasts Bandages must be beige in colour. The wearing of gymnastics slippers and socks is optional.

Competition Rules She must refrain from changing the height of any apparatus except on UB as per Art She must present herself in the proper manner (raise up hand/hands) at the start and at the end of her exercise. She must observe that, at the start of the exercise the D1 has given a visible conspicuous signal to start her exercise.

Competition Rules She must begin the exercise within 30 seconds of the signal from the D1. She has at her disposal 30 seconds after a fall from the UB (timing starts when the gymnast is on her feet after the fall) in which to recuperate, re-chalk, confer with her coach and remount the UB. After a fall at the BB she has 10 seconds (the timing starts when the gymnast is on her feet after the fall) in which to remount.

Competition Rules She must leave the podium immediately after the conclusion of her exercise. She must refrain from any undisciplined or abusive behaviour. She must notify the Canadian Head Judge if a necessity arises to leave the competition hall.

15 Magnesia Usage In the preparation of the UB reasonable use of magnesia is permitted. Small markings with magnesia may be placed on the BB The spreading of magnesia on the floor exercise mat is not allowed.

16 ART. 2 Regulations for Coaches Is guaranteed the right to:  Assist the gymnast or team under his/her care on the podium during the warm up period on all apparatus  At vault to prepare the springboard and safety collar  At Vault, UB, BB to position the supplementary mat  At UB to adjust and prepare the rails

17 ART. 2 Regulations for Coaches Be present on the podium after the green light is lit:  At UB to remove the springboard then spot during the entire exercise  There may be a 2 nd person on the podium to remove the board after which he/she must leave immediately  At Beam to remove the springboard (1 coach) after which she/he must immediately leave the podium

18 ART. 2 Regulations for Coaches To help at all apparatus in case of injuries or defects of the apparatus Assist and advise the gymnast during the intermediate fall time period from below the podium at UB and BB

19 Rights and Responsibilities of Coaches Signals, verbal commands or similar to a competing gymnast - “The coach is not permitted to: speak directly to the gymnast, give signals, shouts (cheers) or similar during the exercise”.

20 Rights and Responsibilities of Coaches – cont’d. Coaches are cautioned that any signals, verbal commands, and/or verbal encouragement are not acceptable behaviours. These types of behaviour include but are not limited to: forceful clapping throughout a routine; loud claps timed to prompt a dismount or other action; yelling “stick”; and shouting commands such as ‘come on, ‘keep going’.

21 Rights and Responsibilities of Coaches AND Unauthorized Warm-Up Practices During competition, gymnasts may warm up on the event apparatus as permitted by the rules as outlined in the Code of Points or in the Code Supplement. Gymnasts may not warm up on other event apparatus. i.e. when warming up for beam, using the floor exercise mat unless authorized, for a given session, by the Canadian Head Judge (or designate) or the Program Director WAG.

22 Rights and Responsibilities of Coaches AND –cont’d. As per the Code of Points Regulations for Gymnasts (Page 2): “Warm-Up – Following the warm up period or during the ‘competition pause’, the apparatus may be prepared but not used.” This includes the matting at an event. i.e. saltos on the beam mat while waiting for the green light or signal to begin, are not permitted. Unauthorized warm-up will be considered as unsportsmanlike behaviour.

23 PENALTIES FOR AND The following penalties will be applied at the discretion of the Canadian Head Judge (or designate) in consultation with the D1 on the apparatus where the incident occurred. The penalties will be applied and the stage of penalty (e.g. yellow card) carried forward over the entire competition e.g., CC or EC. Written warning to coach by Canadian Head Judge or designate, after consultation with the respective D1, for the first offence and occurrence noted in the competition report.

24 PENALTIES FOR 2.11 AND A $20 fine for a second similar offence. The fine is payable immediately to the Canadian Head Judge who will also note this occurrence in the competition report. A subsequent repeated offence in the competition shall result in a second additional fine of $40. The fine is payable immediately to the Canadian Head Judge who will also note this occurrence in the competition report. After this, should there be a repeated violation, the Canadian Head Judge in consultation with the WPD (WAG) may apply the card system as described on page 18 of the Code. (Immediate Red Card and removal of coach from competition)

25 ART. 2 Regulations for Coaches Is guaranteed the right to:  Inquire to the D panel concerning the evaluation of the exercise and the review of the time and line deductions
