Who is he? Robert Frost is a famous poet. He was born on March 26, 1874. He died on January 29, 1963. Robert is a American poet, teacher and lecturer. He is a four- time Pulitzer Prize winner. Robert remains one of America’s leading 20th century poets 4 decades after his death.

Why I choose him? Robert Frost is a very intelligent person from what I have heard. He has written a lot of types of poetry. I choose him as my poet because he seems like a very interesting person. Also I like the poetry he has written. Roberts poems are so good and are very detailed. That’s what I look for in poems and I have seen that he writes magnificent poetry.

Robert’s Childhood Robert Frost was the son of William Prescott Jr. and Isabelle Moodie. His father was a journalist and his mother was a house wife working in San Francisco, California. Then he moved to Lawrence, Massachusetts in England with his family after the death of his father in 1885.

Education and Early Career Robert graduated from Lawrence High School in 1892. After that he attended Dartmouth College for a short period of time. He later enrolled himself in Harvard however, he never really had a former degree. Robert came back home and became a teacher and there he shuffled many jobs. This was all before his love for poetry.

Poetic Career Roberts first poem was published on November 8th, 1894 called “My Butterfly”. He kept on writing poems throughout the whole time he was working as a famer for 9 years. Many of those poems later came very popular. It was then in 1913 his first book of poetry was published. Robert Frost said that Ezra Pound inspired him and helped him write his poetry.

Later Life (Adulthood) Frost returned to America From England after World War I started. He then bought a farm in New Hampshire. That’s when his new life began as a writer, teacher, and lecturer. While teaching Robert encouraged his students to “Express the resonances of the human voice in their writing”. Later through the years Robert moved from place to place. In 1924 he received his first Pulitzer Prize and 3 more times in 1931, 1937 and 1943.

Marriage and kids When still in collage he married Elinor Frost in 1895. He had 6 children and only 2 out of all 6 out lived him. His wife was a patient of Breast Cancer and soon died of heart failure in 1939.

Death Robert Frost died at the age of 89 in Boston. He was buried in the Old Bennington Cemetery in Bennington. On his gravestone it read “I had a lover’s quarrel with the world”.

Conclusion I have learned many things about Robert Frost. I never new about his personal life and what he has been through with his family. The most interesting fact that I have learned is that he has won 4 Pulitzer Prize’s in his life time! That’s amazing to be that popular and to win something like that 4 times!

The Oven Bird There is a singer everyone has heard, Loud, a mid-summer and a mid-wood bird, Who makes the solid tree trunks sound again. He says that leaves are old and that for flowers Mid-summer is to spring as one to ten. he says the early petal-fall is past When pear and cherry bloom went down in showers On sunny days a moment overcast; And comes that other fall we name the fall. He says the highway dust is over all. The bird would cease and be as other birds But that he knows in singing not to sing. The question that he frames in all but words Is what to make of a diminished thing.
