The virus can mutate but for now it is genetically stable. The seasonal flu is totally different from the H1N1 flu. You should get a vaccination for each flu.

The vaccine is protective, safe, and only 1 in 100,000 to 1 in 1,000,000,000 may have an adverse reaction. If the virus mutates to a more deadly form then those vaccinated will be protected. Children under 10 will get a 2 nd dose 3 to 4 weeks after the first dose.
