Graphic Calculator

Getting Started [2nd] [ON]/[2nd][OFF] [CLEAR] [DEL] deletes a character at the cursor. [2nd][INS] inserts characters in front of the underline cursor. [ENTER] executes an instruction. [CLEAR] clears a line and returns to the home screen. [2nd][QUIT] returns to home screen. Use the four blue direction keys

Exercises Exercise 1. Compute Exercise 2. Turn off your calculator. Then, turn it on again. Can you square the last result on your screen? Exercise 3. Compute (-3) 3.

Exercise Results Exercise 1. Exercise 2. Exercise 3.

Drawing Your First Graph 1. Entering a function. Press [Y=].

Drawing Your First Graph 2. Graphing a function. Press [GRAPH].

Drawing Your First Graph 3. Setting the viewing window variables. Press [WINDOW].

Drawing Your First Graph 4. Setting the graph format. Press [2nd][FORMAT]

Drawing Your First Graph Exercise 4. Given the functions, f: x → x 2 + 2x - 3 g: x → -2x + 1 Draw the graph of f and g with the graphic calculator. Do it so that both graphs are in the same picture.

Drawing Your First Graph Result of Exercise 4.

Drawing Your First Graph 5. Exploring graphs Press [TRACE].

Drawing Your First Graph Exercise 5. Given the functions, f: x → 0,3x 2 + 1,2x - 4 g: x → 2x + 1 h: x → x + 3 a. Use the graphic calculator and draw the graphs of the three function all in one picture. Also, sketch them on the following diagram. Label each function on the paper. b. Using the graphic calculator, find the intersection points of the three functions with the y-axis. Fill in the table. c. Calculate the coordinates of the vertex (top) of the parabola. Fill in the next. d. Using the graphic calculator, 1) try to find the vertex (top) of the parabola. 2) compare the results of c and d.1).

Drawing Your First Graph Result of Exercise 5. b. Using the graphic calculator, find the intersection points of the three functions with the y-axis. Fill in the table.

Drawing Your First Graph Result of Exercise 5. c. Calculate the coordinates of the vertex (top) of the parabola. Fill in the next.

Drawing Your First Graph Result of Exercise 5. d. Using the graphic calculator, 1) try to find the vertex (top) of the parabola. 2) compare the results of c and d.1). With the graphic calculator we only find an approximation, ( , ), to the real value which is (-2, -5.2). In this case [TRACE] key is not very useful.
