Introduction to Organic Organic

The Organic Trend THE ORGANIC FOOD TREND CONTINUES TO GROW. BUT WHAT IS ORGANIC FOOD? The prices of organic food has risen from 3.6 billion to 24.4 billion between 1997 and 2011

Organic Food SCIENCE DEFINES IT AS: FOODS WITH LIMITED AMOUNTS OF PESTICIDES OR HORMONES MARKETERS MAKE IT OUT TO BE: THE SAFER, MORE NUTRITOUS DIET.

Truth of the Matter: Safety WHILE ORGANIC PRODUCTS DO CONTAIN LOWER LEVELS PESTICIDES, IT DOES NOT MAKE CONVENTIONAL PRODUCE HARMFUL  BOTH ARE SECCEPTABLE TO CONTAMINATION  FDA REGULATES  PREVENTION: WASHING AND PEELING FRUITS AND VEGETABLES WILL REMOVE

How Organic Is Organic? IN RECENT YEARS, IT HAS BEEN DISCOVERED THAT MANY BIG BRAND BUSINESSES HAVE BEEN MAKING SURE SEVERAL “NOT SO ORGANIC” INGREDIENTS ARE APPROVED BY THE NATIONAL ORGANICS BOARD  EXAMPLE: CARRAGEENAN

Truth of the Matter: Nutrition STANFORD UNIVERSITY SCIENTISTS CONCLUDE ORGANIC IS NO MORE NUTRITIOUS THAN CONVENTIONAL  IN RESEARCH, ORGANIC FOODS WERE ONLY PROVEN TO CONTAIN MORE PHOSPHRUS. AN ELEMENT WE ALREADY GAIN ENOUGH OF IN OUR REGULAR DIETS.

Tomato, Tomahto IN A STUDY CONDUCTED ON BOTH ORGANIC AND CONVENTIONAL TOMATOES, ORGANICALLY PRODUCED TOMATOES HAD NO SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES.  THE TWO PRODUCED ALMOST EQUIVILANT PHYTONUTRIENT CONTENT.

Conclusion To Organic AS A GROUP WE HAVE DECIDED THAT ORGANIC FOOD IS:  A) EQUALLY AS SAFE  B) EQUALLY AS NUTRITIOUS  C) TWICE THE PRICE OF CONVENTIONAL FOODS ORGANIC FOOD DOES NOT HAVE ENOUGH “BANG FOR YOUR BUCK”
