How In 1991 Ramzi Yousef (from Kuwait) started this plan to bomb the US He traveled to the US illegally from Pakistan. Yousef began assembling the 1,500 lb urea nitrate–hydrogen gas enhanced bomb once he arrive in the US

Why Days before the attack Yousef sent letters to multiple newspapers. These letters made three demands: end to all US aid to Israel, an end to US diplomatic relations with Israel, and a pledge by the United States to end interference with any of the Middle East countries' interior affairs. He stated that the attack on the World Trade Center would be merely the first of such attacks if they didn’t do what he said. In his letters Yousef admitted that the World Trade Center bombing was an act of terrorism, but this was justified because, "the terrorism that Israel practices must be faced with a similar one."

What On February 26, 1993 the attack happened. They drove a Ryder van to the World Trade Center’s parking garage below the towers around 12 p.m. At 12:17 the bomb was ignited

What Continued The bomb cut off all of the WTC power including emergency lights. The smoke rose all the way up to the 93 rd floor filling stairwells and hallways. Evacuation was very difficult.

Casualties 6 killed 1,042 injured

What Continued. They hope of this is that the North Tower would collapse onto the South Tower. Ultimately that plan did not work. The garage was damaged by the tower did not collapse.

Aftermath Yousef fled to Pakistan a few hours after the bombing. They thought at first it was a transformer blowing up, but the explosion was too bug for that to be true. While searching in the rubble they found a VIN number on the van and soon found out it was rented by Yousef.

Aftermath The capture of Salameh and Yasin led authorities to Ramzi Yousef's apartment, where they found bomb- making materials and a business card from Mohammed Jamal Khalifa

Arrest/Cost He was finally arrested on February 7, 1995 On November 13, 1997 he officially convicted of the 1993 WTC bombing Got 240 years in prison for the crime he committed To repair cost $500 million
