Exodus 4: 1-5 Moses answered, “What if they do not believe me or listen to me and say, ‘The LORD did not appear to you’?” Then the LORD said to him, “What is that in your hand?” “A staff,” he replied. The LORD said, “Throw it on the ground.” Moses threw it on the ground and it became a snake, and he ran from it. Then the LORD said to him, “Reach out your hand and take it by the tail.” So Moses reached out and took hold of the snake and it turned back into a staff in his hand. “This,” said the LORD, “is so that they may believe that the LORD, the God of their fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has appeared to you.”

What is that in your hand? God’s question to Moses The staff was common The staff was a shepherd’s tool The staff was an inanimate object Who would have ever dreamed what God could do with the staff in the hand of Moses?

What is that in your hand? God used the staff in Moses’ hand when…  …Moses stood before Pharaoh and demonstrated God’s power that consumed the efforts of the magicians

What is that in your hand? God use the staff in Moses’ hand when…  …five of the plagues were initiated (Water to Blood, Frogs, Gnats, Hail, and Locust)  …the Red sea was parted for the children of Israel

What is that in your hand? God used the staff in Moses’ hand when…  …the the Amalekite army was defeated  …God’s power produced water from the rock

What is that in your hand? David had a slingshot in his hand. God used it to kill Goliath and defeat the enemy of God’s people. Shamgar had an ox goad in his hand. God used it to kill 600 Philistines and defend God’s people.

What is that in your hand? Samson had a jawbone of a donkey. God used it to kill 1,000 Philistines. Jael had a tent peg. God used it to deliver Israel from the Canaanites. The disciples had a little boy’s lunch. Jesus used it to feed a multitude.

What did we hear this week? Technology is neutral by itself–it is defined by its user. (Monday) Technology requires responsible use to be its best. (Tuesday)

What did we hear this week? Technology asks that we learn to discern (Wednesday) Technology Connects, Communicates, and Captures (Thursday) And today, God asks to use what is in our hand.
