Minds On Guess my Number

MFM1P Learning Goals: I can solve simple, one step equations Lesson 1: Solving Equations Part 1

MFM1P When solving for a variable we need to undo everything that was done to the variable. We need to undo things in the reverse order than they were originally done. Lesson 1: Solving Equations Part 1

MFM1P You can keep equations equivalent by applying the same operation to both sides of the equation. Example:x – 6 = 8 x – = x = 14 Lesson 1: Solving Equations Part 1

MFM1P When solving for a variable our goal is to isolate the variable. Get the variable by itself. We do this using inverse operations. Lesson 1: Solving Equations Part 1

MFM1P Lesson 1: Solving Equations Part 1

MFM1P Example: Solve for “x” 11 + x = 13 Lesson 1: Solving Equations Part 1

MFM1P Example: Solve for “x” x - 9 = 10 Lesson 1: Solving Equations Part 1

MFM1P Example: Solve for “x” x = 23 Lesson 1: Solving Equations Part 1

MFM1P Example: Solve for “x” x + 6 = 3 Lesson 1: Solving Equations Part 1

MFM1P Example: Solve for “x” x – 12 = - 35 Lesson 1: Solving Equations Part 1

MFM1P Example: Solve for “x” 3x = 24 Lesson 1: Solving Equations Part 1

MFM1P Example: Solve for “x” -52 = 4x Lesson 1: Solving Equations Part 1

MFM1P Example: Solve for “x” -48 = -6x Lesson 1: Solving Equations Part 1
