Slam Poetry Unit Grade: Juniors in high school Age: 16 and 17

Lets get started! Get into your groups of 3 or 4 Grab a sheet of butcher paper Jobs that each member should have recorder, presenter, someone to grab the materials Write down the terms and questions on the board With your group members brainstorm about these terms and questions! Make it into a list, web, paragraph, whatever you want

Back together again Whoever is not presenting and whoever did not record please come to the board and write down at least 3 ideas that your group had

Now that we’ve brainstormed lets find out what these terms really mean But of course not without a quick video: this video will give you a tiny insight into what slam poetry is all about! 0NM 0NM Any first impression thoughts?

Finally to the nitty gritty VOCOBULARY TIME Slam Poetry: A poem, or work of writing that is spoken to an audience with… POWER: Extreme energy and attitude Projecting : Using your voice to reach a higher levels so that an audience can hear you better Slam: also known as “poetry slam” is a friendly compition where poets come together to share their work in front of a public audience
