 At the end of this class, students are able to  Describe definition of input devices clearly  List out the examples of input devices  Describe each example of input devices

 Definition  Types of input devices  Description of each devices

 Any hardware devices that sends data to the computer  Without any input devices, a computer would only be a display device and not allow users to interact with it

Devices KeyboardMousePendriveWebcamScannerJoystick

 Characteristics  have alphabetical, numerical, and functional keys  Functions  help the user to type in commands for computer operations  translates numbers, letters, symbols and control keys into signals that can be interpreted by the PC

 Characteristics  use a ball, light, or a laser to track movement  Functions  to control the pointer on the screen ( called a cursor ) for selecting matter and clicking on icons on the interface

 Characteristics  they consisted of a single movable stick and a button or two  primarily used for computer gaming  Functions  allowing you to control a game character's movements such as moving front, behind and sideways, shooting, or other gaming task

 Characteristics  referred to web camera  a small camera mounted on a desktop or built in a laptop  Functions  provide visual data to the computer in the form of images and video  can even be used to record a home video and post it on the web

 Characteristics  a device that uses light to read an image or text and turn it into a digital message  Functions  Image scanners do the job of making a soft copy image of printed materials, pictures, or even objects  this media can then be used to store, change and send the image or text  very useful in transferring documents from one office to the other in just no time

 Characteristic  solid state nature  ease of mobility  Function  act as permanent storage drives that interface with the computer through a USB or Firewire port  store information

 Input device is one of the component of hardware  There are a few types of input devices such as keyboards, mouse and webcam  Each types of these devices have their own characteristics and functions.
