Introduction to Landscaping Landscape is the outdoor living space that enhances a building. Landscaping should be planned to be private, comfortable, attractive and safe. The ideal topography is the contour of the land that includes a gentle, rolling terrain with natural drainage. The terrain can affect this by the way the land is horizontal or vertical. Orientation to the sun and wind can be factors which affect the use of outdoor living space.
