 2 nd Grade  Read the information given, and then answer the questions.  Objective:  DESCRIPTION: The student will learn how fast different animals can go and answer questions at the end of the power point.  CONDITION: The student will complete all of the slides without assistance from teacher.  CRITERIA: The student will answer the questions until they get the correct answers or they well not go to next slide.  Mathematics  CCSS.Math.Content.2.MD.A.3 CCSS.Math.Content.2.MD.A.3  Estimate lengths using units of inches, feet, centimeters, and meters.

Instructions  Read all of the information about how fast different kinds of animals can travel in miles per hour in the next slide.  Then answer the two multiple chose questions that follow.

Animals and Rates of Speed  One adult wood turtle can cover a distance of 450 feet in 25 minutes, a rate of 0.2 miles per hour and swims at a pace of 10 to 12 mph.  Tigers have been known to reach speeds up to 32 miles per hour.  A horses can run 37.5 miles per hour.

How fast can a tiger travel?  15 miles per hour 15 miles per hour  32 miles per hour 32 miles per hour  20 miles per hour 20 miles per hour  30 miles per hour 30 miles per hour

Correct!

Which animal can travel one mile the fastest?  Tiger Tiger  Turtle Turtle  Horse Horse

Correct!

Today, you learned how fast certain animals can travel in miles per hour.

Sorry that’s incorrect. Please, try again.
