FACTS  Animal Abuse is strongly related to domestic violence.  57 % of domestic violence victims stated there pet was harmed as well.  Chances are a child abusing an animal can grow up to be a person who commits other violent crimes.

CAUSES  Overpopulation is a big cause for animal neglect.  Cats can start breeding as early as 6 months old.  2 Cats along with their offspring in six years can generate 420,000 cats.  2 Dogs along with offspring can generate 67,000 dogs.  70,000 puppies and kittens are born a day compared to 10,ooo humans.

EFFECTS OF ABUSE on ANIMAL  Animals who are abused within the first few weeks of life are not rarely suitable to be pets.  When abused in the first few weeks, cats are more likely to be hostile towards humans for the rest of there lives.  Rehabilitation for an abused pet depends on the age of the animal when abused and the length of the abuse for the animal.

Increases costs of living because taxes are increased in order to fund the removal of dead animals from public places, care for animal shelters, and to euthanize animals that have not been adopted.
