Habitat Where Great White Sharks Live The great white shark is found mostly in temperate seas throughout the world's oceans. It makes infrequent visits to cold waters and has been recorded off Alaska and Canada. Great whites can be found along the coastlines of South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, California to Alaska, the east coast of USA and the Gulf coast, Hawaii, most of South America, the Mediterranean Sea, West Africa to Scandinavia, Japan and the eastern coastline of China and southern Russia. The white shark lives mainly in the upper part of the water column, near the shore. It commonly patrols small coastal islands inhabited by pinnipeds (seals, sea lions and walruses), offshore reefs, banks and rocky headlands where there is deepwater close to shore. Next

Diet What Great White Sharks Eat The white shark preys upon a variety of fish and marine mammals. Fish such as salmon, hake, halibut, mackerel and tunas are common prey, as are marine mammals such as harbor porpoises and harbor seals. However whites also eat other sharks, sea turtles and seabirds. They may also feed upon blubber from dead whale carcasses. Next

Interesting Facts Great White Sharks The Great White Shark measures feet in length. It can grow to a length of feet too. Great White Sharks are streamlined swimmers. They have a torpedo shaped body with a pointed snout. The Great White Shark has about 3000 teeth, which are arranged in rows. Next
