Graphical representation- Cutting of trees in Chandigarh in last 5 years

Reasons for Cutting Trees  Increasing population, need more space.  Less awareness about benefit of trees  Less ownership of tree plantation.  Less responsibility to protect existing trees.  Scarcity of land for planting tree  New constructions of roads, industries and commercial buildings

Suggestions to protect trees  As far as possible, native (suitable for local climate) trees should be planted  Compost manure should be applied during plantation.  Tree guards should be provided for the plantations  Water the saplings regularly during times of a dry spell  Stop Burning of Leaves as it damages growth of live trees.  Control pest attack on trees

Solutions for the problem.  Motivate village Panchayats and village people to plant and protect tree saplings in and around the villages to improve the environment.  To co-ordinate with the Eco-Clubs in different Schools & Colleges for massive plantation.  Coordinating with NGO's and Govt. Agencies for chalking out programmes for plantation in their respective colonies.  Ensuring proper protection and regular watering of plants

Tree Plantation Campaigns “One Child one Plant" scheme started in our school, where the responsibility of growing the plant lies with the student. This will be a learning experience for the all student. “One Child one Plant" scheme started in our school, where the responsibility of growing the plant lies with the student.
