What does it mean to be a good citizen? Let’s Brainstorm-

So, What is GOOD digital citizen?  A term that describes how a person should act while using digital technology.  Has been defined as "the ability to participate in society online.” 

NOW, KEEP YOUR HAND UP IF YOU ARE 13 YEARS OLD. RAISE YOUR HAND IF YOU HAVE SOME SORT OF SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNT. YOU ARE GOING AGAINST THE LAW AND ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY YOU CLICKED YES TO WHEN YOU SIGNED UP IF YOU ARE UNDER 13! DOES A GOOD DIGITAL CITIZEN TO LIE ABOUT YOUR BIRTHDATE?

What household items remind us about being safe on line?

Toothpaste Imagine the information that you are putting online is like the toothpaste coming out of the tube. Once it is out, it is almost impossible to get it all back in the tube!

Permanent Marker Everything that you put online is permanent....even if you hit the delete button after posting. Odds are someone has re-tweeted, favored, or taken a screenshot of the material.

Toothbrush Passwords and toothbrushes are very similar in the fact that you NEVER want to share passwords. (except with parents)

Padlock The padlock is to remind you to set strong passwords and to set up passcode locks on all of your digital devices.

Our Connected Culture Say it with your brain, not with your heart in anger or distress.

It isn’t as private as you think…

What TO DO ABOUT cyberbullying? Ҳ Don’t forward it Ҳ Don’t like it DO TELL SOMEONE WHO CAN HELP Expect Respect – Accept Nothing Less

Never copy without giving credit

plagiarism An act or instance of using or closely imitating the language and thoughts of another author without authorization and the representation of that author's work as one's own, as by not crediting the original author. language Synonyms: appropriation, infringement, piracy, counterfeiting; theft, borrowing, cribbing, passing off.

So let’s make a promise to be good digital citizens now that we know what it means.

“I promise to always THINK before posting something on the internet. I never know who can see it or who will be hurt by it.” #bewise #digitalcitizen
