DEFINITION An endangered species is a native species that faces a significant risk of extinction in the near future throughout all or a significant portion of its range.

CATEGORIES Least Concern - There is no immediate threat to the survival of the species. Large mouth valve snail

CATEGORIES Near Threatened - May become vulnerable, endangered, or critically endangered in the near future. American Bison

CATEGORIES Vulnerable - The species faces a high risk of extinction in the wild. Pacific Horned Frog
