Why It’s Important KEY TERMS Brainstorming Brainwriting The most successful companies have managers who know how to make effective decisions.

Making Creative Decisions There are five steps to making creative decisions. 1.Preparation – investigate all parts 2.Concentration - timetable 3.Incubation - options 4.Illumination – acceptable solution 5.Verification – test solution

Encouraging Creativity ▫ Managers encourage creativity with these techniques: Brainstorming—A group of people coming up with as many different ideas as possible to help solve a problem, without making judgments about those ideas. Brainwriting—Like brainstorming except group members write down their ideas to help solve a problem. Wish Lists—A group solving a problem by imagining they have the power to solve any problem without regard for physical or financial constraints.

Meyers Model for Creative Decision Making The Meyers Model has six stages for solving a problem. 1.Recognition – describe 2.Fact Finding – gather more info. 3.Problem Finding – revisit problem 4. Idea Finding - brainstorming 5.Solution Finding – match problems w/solution 6.Acceptance Finding – implement solution

Activity Using the Meyers Model, your group will brainwrite a solution to the following ▫Our class received 1,000 t-shirts from a rock group to help the homeless. What would your group do to benefit the most people and why?
