Who accredits us? The Higher Learning Commission: 1 of 6 regional accreditors covers 19 states and ~1100 schools Specialized Accreditations by >40 Professional Societies, ex: Physician Assistant program by ARPA MD program by LCME Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), International

Why is HLC accreditation important to the University and its students? The US Department of Education maintains a list of accredited institutions and programs: Determines eligibility for participation in federally funded programs such as Title IV financial aid programs for students and NIH/NSF grant funds for faculty. University accreditation by the HLC is required by many of our programs for their own accreditation.

HLC Accreditation History 1922: The University of Toledo was first accredited 1980: The Medical College of Ohio was first accredited 2006: HLC focused visit-the merged University of Toledo 2002 & 2012: Self study and Reaffirmation of UT accreditation (full 10 years)

The HLC Standard Pathway Process UT has full accreditation until UT is in the HLC “Pathway”, a 10-year cyclic review process.
