Expansion of Jobs in Manufacturing Among the larger metro areas, the star of the U.S.-led recovery is No.5 Warren, Troy, Farmington Hills Mich., an area that is widely known as “Manufacturing alley.” This region epitomizes the transition of manufacturing to more automated, high-tech production methods. After decades of losses, the area’s industrial employment increased 26% from 2009 through 2012. Detroit manufacturing employment up 18% since 2009. U.S. manufacturing employment has increased by more than 500,000 jobs over the last three years, as factory payrolls have grown from 11.46 million to 12 million at the end of 2012. The industrial expansion has also sparked high-tech employment growth across Michigan that in 2010-2011 stood at almost 7% compared to 2.6% nationwide

What is MAT2 The Michigan Advanced Technician Training (MAT²®) is an innovative and industry-defined approach to education. Benchmarked on the German Dual Education System, MAT²® is an educational model developed in conjunction with global technology leaders, and will combine theory, practice and work to train a globally competitive workforce.

Program Information 3 Years Long, will be divided into school and work periods School periods will be about 8 weeks long for the first 2 years, and 7 weeks long for the 3rd year 40 hours per week (during school & work) Students receive a school stipend during non work periods paid for by the Company. Hourly wage increases for the entire duration of the program Students tuition is 100% paid by the company Students will receive an associate degree & department of labor certificate. Students sign an agreement to work for the Company for 2 years upon graduation from the MAT2 program.
