Conventions – Mise-en- Scene  The mise-en-scene is typical to its period which is usually around the 40s and 50s.  We often see men in smart suits and women in suggestive clothing as they are seen as a sex symbol.  They are frequently in an office environment and the typical lighting I noticed is through blinds.  The men often drive old fashioned cars.  Other settings include rainy streets, abandoned warehouses, alley ways  The colours are normally black and white

Conventions – Camera Work Frequently used Camera Angles are :  Canted Angle  Travelling shot  Wide angle  P.O.V  Top Shot ( Extreme H.A )

Conventions - Editing  Continuity editing  Deep Focus  Depth Of field LIGHTING:  Underlighting  Top Lighting  Low Key Lighting  Fade Out  Backlighting

Conventions - Sound  Blues  Creates a mood, builds suspense and adds tension.  Dialogue  Sometimes the music is synchronous with action ( i.e footsteps )
